Salesforce is the reference point for the entire CRM industry. There is basically nothing the system cannot do, and that is exactly why the question is worth asking: do you need all of it? For many companies with 20 to 300 employees the answer is no, and the cost of choosing Salesforce anyway does not show up in the license but in the ongoing management. We are a monday.com partner and write from that perspective, but we have also moved customers off Salesforce and know where the line goes in both directions.
Short answer
Choose Salesforce if you are a large or fast-growing organization with complex sales structures, several business areas and countries, in-house developers or a dedicated partner, and requirements that only a deeply customizable platform can handle. Choose monday CRM if you want a CRM that salespeople actually use, that you can change yourselves, and where sales is connected to delivery.

What Salesforce does best
Salesforce's strength is depth. The data model can be shaped any way you like, permissions can be controlled down to field level, the flow engine handles very complex logic and the reporting is the most powerful on the market. The AppExchange ecosystem has ready-made solutions for almost every industry. For a group with sales organizations in several countries, territory models, partner channels and strict compliance requirements, it is hard to find an alternative.
What it costs in practice
The most common criticism in user reviews is complexity. Simple things take many clicks, the number of settings is overwhelming, and the system needs someone to manage it. That is not a flaw in the product, it is the price of flexibility. But it means the real cost is the license plus a dedicated administrator plus the time it takes to get a change through.
The price step between the entry suites and the larger editions is also significant, and the larger editions are now bundled with AI credits whose consumption needs to be budgeted. Check the current price list, since Salesforce reworked its editions during 2026.
What monday CRM does differently
monday CRM starts from the idea that whoever owns the sales process should also be able to change it. A sales manager can add a stage, build an automation or set up a new dashboard the same day. The partner's time then goes to architecture, integrations and the bigger improvements instead of small changes. It sounds like a detail, but it is the difference between a system that keeps up with the business and one that is always a quarter behind.
The other difference is that sales is not an island. monday CRM sits on the same platform as projects, service and development. A won deal becomes a delivery project automatically, and management gets a connected view from first contact to billable work.
What monday CRM is not: a system for very complex sales organizations with advanced territory management, heavy CPQ or custom coded logic. There, Salesforce is still the right tool.
User adoption matters more than features
A CRM is only worth something if salespeople fill it in. In our experience, adoption is the single biggest difference in outcomes between the systems in mid-sized companies. A system with fewer features that is used every day beats a complete system that salespeople avoid. So ask the salespeople early in the evaluation, not just management and IT.
Partner support and custom apps
monday.com is a global platform, but you are not on your own with it. As a certified monday.com partner, we provide hands-on support: implementation, training, ongoing management and a contact person who knows your particular setup. You make the everyday changes yourselves. The bigger steps we take together, and that is where a partner who knows both the platform and your business makes the biggest difference.
When the standard features are not enough, we develop custom apps and integrations on the monday.com platform. It could be a quote calculator with your pricing logic, an approval chain with your own rules or a connection to an industry system. Requirements like these are often exactly what make companies look at Salesforce, and in many cases they can be solved with a custom app at a fraction of the management cost. Frequently asked questions
Is monday CRM a full alternative to Salesforce?
For most small and mid-sized B2B companies, yes. Pipeline, deals, contacts, email sync, quotes, automation, forecasting and AI are all in place. For very large organizations with complex sales structures and in-house developers, Salesforce is still stronger.
How long does a switch from Salesforce to monday CRM take?
A typical project takes a few weeks. Data is moved in a structured way, but most of the work is simplifying: most Salesforce installations have fields, objects and flows that no one uses anymore.
Do we lose history when we switch?
No. Accounts, contacts, deals and activities come along to the extent you use them. We recommend archiving what is not used instead of moving everything.
Is there hands-on support for monday CRM?
Yes. monday.com has global support, and as a certified partner we provide hands-on support with implementation, training and ongoing management. You get a contact person who knows your setup.
Is Salesforce more expensive than monday CRM?
The license per user is higher on the tiers where Salesforce comes into its own, and on top of that comes the cost of a dedicated administrator and a longer implementation. Calculate the total cost over three years, not the list price.
